Our “Meals on Wheels Service” is a Japanese style meal delivery service for seniors with mobility difficulties so they can stay connected with their community and culture through weekly Japanese-style meal delivery.

Every Tuesday, Tonari Gumi kitchen volunteers prepare (boxed lunches) with miso soup, designed so they can be refrigerated and eaten later. Volunteer drivers then pick up the and deliver them to the seniors’ doors.

Eligibility

• Be 60 years of age or older


• Homebound as a result of physical or mental disabilities


• Successfully complete the Meals on Wheels Service Assessment with Tonari Gumi staff

• Richmond

 

• Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam, and Port Coquitlam

 

• North Van and West Van

Cost

• Tonari Gumi Members - $7


• Non-Members - $8

Volunteers Needed!

• Kitchen Volunteers: Help prepare food and package into lunch boxes.

• Delivery Drivers: Pick up bags of lunch boxes and deliver them to seniors around your area.

Training and support will be provided.
