Join Tonari Gumi at the 2025 Powell Street Festival!
The Powell Street Festival, a beloved summer tradition in the Japanese-Canadian community, will take place on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Oppenheimer Park.
This year, Tonari Gumi planned menu items are as follows:
• Inari Sushi
• Hiyashi Chuka (Cold Noodles)
• Mochi Manju
• And a brand-new menu item! (Stay tuned!)
We are currently looking for volunteers to support preparations and activities both before and during the festival. If you’re available and interested in being part of this lively cultural event, we would love your help!
📅 Volunteer Dates & Tasks
July 28 (Mon) – July 31 (Thu), from 10:00 AM
・Work area setup, food preparation, packing of supplies/equipment, transportation
August 1 (Fri), from 9:00 AM
At Tonari Gumi:
・Final food prep and packing, packing of supplies/equipment, transport prep
At the Festival Site:
・Transporting items and setting up booths
August 2 (Sat), from 8:00 AM
At Tonari Gumi:
・Food production, packing, and transportation
At the Food & Craft Booths (festival site):
・Transport, setup, sales, and teardown
August 3 (Sun), from 8:00 AM
At Tonari Gumi:
・Food production, packing, and transportation
At the Food & Craft Booths (festival site):
・Transport, setup, sales, teardown, returning items to Tonari Gumi, and cleanup
