The Seniors Peer Support Course is designed to strengthen community-based programs that support older adults experiencing loneliness, social isolation, grief, or life transitions.
Participating organizations, including Tonari Gumi, can train their volunteers in two evidence-informed programs:
Friendly Visiting Training – focuses on social connection, companionship, and meaningful interaction with seniors.
Seniors Peer Support Training – focuses on emotional support, active listening, healthy boundaries, and structured peer-support conversations.
These training opportunities are available to volunteers affiliated with participating community organizations across BC.

⚠️ Important Eligibility Requirement
To participate in the Seniors Peer Support Training, volunteers must:
Be 55 years of age or older, OR
Be staff of a partner organization with a written request explaining the reason for participation.

A Training Registration Form is now required so that JSABC can communicate easily with all registrants.

For individuals under 55 years of age, a letter of request from Tonari Gumi is required.
