Meals-on-Wheels
Tonari Gumi’s Meals-on-Wheels service delivers nourishing Japanese-style bento meals to homebound seniors, their caregivers, individuals with chronic or acute medical conditions, or individuals recovering from surgery, illness, or injury difficulty preparing their own meals. The volunteers deliver nourishing meals and social contact and offer an informal check on the safety of meal recipients by alerting the Tonari Gumi staff if they spot a concern for someone’s well-being.
Every Tuesday, Tonari Gumi kitchen volunteers prepare meals under supervision of licensed staff. The meals consist of bento box with miso soup, designed so they can be refrigerated and eaten later.
Our delivery volunteers undergo training and obtain criminal record check clearance.
