Job Opening: Community Services Coordinator Assistant

The Japanese Community Volunteers Association is recruiting for the position of Community Service Coordinator Assistant. This position involves providing to clients information related to housing, taxes and healthcare, serving as the client interface and collaborating with relevant agencies to address the requests of the consultees. We are looking for individuals proficient in English and Japanese (at least conversational level), with a positive attitude, empathy and the ability to enjoy working with people of all ages, especially the elderly. This is a rewarding position for those who aspire to contribute to supporting and bringing positive changes to people's lives.


General Responsibilities:

·       Support for the Community Service Coordinator

·       Client care

·       Seminar planning

·       Volunteer training and Assisting


Specific Duties:

·       Community Service Coordinator Support

·       Providing information, assistance and coordinating with collaborating agencies to address client inquiries

·       Planning, executing and preparing materials for 10 seminars per year

·       Coordinating weekly meal delivery programs

·       Assisting Caregiver support projects

·       Coordinating and arranging visitation and telephone buddy volunteer activities


Other Tasks as Needed:

·       Assisting with day-to-day operations (client interactions, setup of desks and chairs, etc.)

·       Assisting with program reception

·       Supporting administrative and reception tasks


Qualifications:

·       Interest in the nonprofit sector, with preferred experience in the field of social welfare (in Canada or Japan)

·       Proficiency in English and Japanese

·       Positive, proactive, forward-thinking and creative

·       Ability to work joyfully with people of all ages, particularly the elderly

·       Effective and self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal and communication


Skills

·       Physical ability to perform job tasks

·       Strong multitasking and cooperation skills

·       Valid BC driver's license

·       Proficiency in basic computer programs, particularly in Microsoft Office, is an asset



Working Hours and Compensation:

·       24 to 35 hours per week

·       Salary consideration based on experience and qualifications ($21-$25)

·       Extended Health Care benefits

·       Flexible working hours
