This year, after moving to our new facilities at 42 W 8th Ave., we were fortunate to be able to get a community garden plot at the Elizabeth Rogers Community Garden within Johnathan Rogers Park, which is just south west of our building.
On sunny days our seniors are able to walk to the park and enjoy connecting with nature once again. More recently we have been enjoying some of the fresh produce from the garden, including radishes, cucumbers and tomatoes. We have been able to incorporate some of the fresh vegetables into our lunch programs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Having fresh from the garden vegetables is a real treat for our seniors. Special thanks goes to Eileen Kage who has helped us in planning the garden and acts as our informal garden adviser.
