On Saturday, March 24th literally hundreds of customers lined up to purchase one of a kind and unique Japanese kimono’s, accessories and Japanese decorator items. Although the sale didn’t start until 12:00 noon, people began lining up at 11:30 a.m. and the lines didn’t ease off until nearly 1:00 p.m.
Thanks to the work of key Board members, Utako Ueki and Motoko Reed, assisted by Michiko Sakata, other TG Board members, TG Staff and nearly 30 other volunteers, eager customers were able to find many of the items they were looking for.
Special thanks also go to our neighbour, Sakuraya and Kim’s Market, who let us use their upstairs space for our Japanese dolls and decorator items sale. All in all, this was an extremely successful fundraiser for Tonari Gumi and will go a long way to helping to sustain our many programs and services for seniors and others needing assistance within the community.
