How you can support Tonari Gumi:
By volunteering your time–
The foundation of Tonari Gumi is the spirit of volunteerism and the close to 200 volunteers supporting the organization. Volunteers play a vital role in the delivery of progams and services to the community. Working along side staff, they help to promote independence and well-being for Japanese Canadians, through participation in community activities
Tonari Gumi offers volunteers of all ages the opportunity to gain valuable and memorable experience working with the Japanese Canadian community.
By providing a donation to support Tonari Gumi’s programs and services–
Tonari Gumi depends on the generous contributions of hundreds of individuals and businesses within the Lower Mainland of B.C. in order to be able to provide the programs and services needed by our seniors and the most vulnerable within our community. Less than one-third of the funds required by Tonari Gumi come from government grants and that proportion is declining each year as governments reduce their budgets. In order to support the programs and services, please contribute to Tonari Gumi’s General Fund.
Tonari Gumi also needs to be able to maintain and update its new building and has created a “Making it a Home Fund” for those wishing to contribute to the building.
