On Friday, August 29, 2014, quality music was the theme as four different groups of performers gathered with some 60 guests in Tonari Gumi’s main hall.
Music came from a number of different genres including beautiful Japanese choral numbers from the Cattleya Chorus, community choir; contemporary guitar and vocal pieces from Chika Buston and Martin Kobayakawa; classical violin numbers from former VSO violinist Masako Matsumoto, accompanied by pianist Tae Maeda; and pop and blues riffs by trumpet player, Tak Maeda, accompanied by pianist Tae Maeda.
The evening was a musical tour de force that kept everyone fully entertained. The intimate nature of the Tonari Gumi venue brought all of the guests in close contact with the performers, making it a memorable evening for everyone involved. Tonari Gumi’s next musical event will be our Coffee House on Saturday, October 25 and Tonari Gumi’s 9th Annual Christmas Concert on Sunday, Nov. 30th. Please keep these dates in mind for a memorable musical experience. See you there.
